It may seem strange to open a new art gallery during a global pandemic. Even more strange it may seem to be opening a gallery focused on historically marginalized artists in Rural Oregon.
Cambium Gallery is an artist owned contemporary art gallery opened during COVID 19 in a beautiful creative arts building located just one block off the main drag in Astorias historic downtown. Our gallery focuses on work created by historically marginalized artists along with the works of owner/Ceramicist Audrey Long and owner/Abstract Artist Kirista Trask.
In 2023 Cambium Owner Kirista Trask and Audrey Long launched Fire Elk Meadows, a unique art space dedicated to fostering creativity and providing women, trans and non binary artists with the opportunity to explore, innovate, and collaborate with atmospheric ceramics and other 2d mediums through workshops, works shares and artist residencies in Astoria, OR.
Cambium wants to give voice to artists who have important stories to tell. By focusing on artists not typically seen in Astoria Cambium hopes to spark exciting new conversations. And from these conversation Cambium hopes to see new connections within the Astoria community.
WE BELIEVE THAT ART IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF HEALTHY, INSPIRED COMMUNITIES.
WE SERVE TO ACT AS A CONDUIT TO FORGE LIFELONG CONNECTIONS THAT ELEVATE AND ENGAGE UNDERREPRESENTED ARTISTS AND COMMUNITIES.
WE PROVIDE ENGAGING ARTISTIC EVENTS, INTUITIVELY CURATED ARTISANAL GOODS AND THE PROMOTION OF INNOVATIVE ARTISTS WITH IMPORTANT STORIES TO TELL.
WE CHOOSE ART AS OUR PLATFORM AND BELIEVE THAT IT CHANGES LIVES.
Cambium has received several awards in our first year open including The Ford Foundations Rural Community Builder award and Be Kind to The Coast award.
